Periodic System with a Neutralizing Background Charge Density

چکیده
The r−n interaction energy, 1 ≤ n < 3, for a infinitely periodic system with explicit charges and a neutralizing, uniform background charge density is derived. An Ewald based expression for this energy has an extra term proportional to the square of the total explicit charges of the system. This expression may be useful for simulations in which explicit charge neutrality does not hold or for which the total explicit charges is a fluctuating quantity.

The electronic properties of YBa2Cu3O7-δ have been investigated by the energy-pseudopotential method within the local density approximation (LDA) with and without including generalized gradient corrections (GGC). The band structure, density of states and charge density of YBa2Cu3O7- have been calculated. The results are compared with other approaches such as LAPW, LCAO and LMTO for this syste...
متن کاملTranslation Symmetry Breaking in the One-Component Plasma on the Cylinder
The two-dimensional one-component plasma, i.e. the system of pointlike charged particles embedded in a homogeneous neutralizing background, is studied on the surface of a cylinder of finite circumference, or equivalently in a semiperiodic strip of finite width. The model has been solved exactly by Choquard et al. at the free-fermion coupling Γ = 2: in the thermodynamic limit of an infinitely lo...
متن کاملModeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...
متن کاملCharged particles on surfaces: coexistence of dilute phases and periodic structures at interfaces.
We consider a mixture of two immiscible oppositely charged molecules strongly adsorbed to an interface, with a neutral nonselective molecular background. We determine the coexistence between a high density ionic periodic phase and a dilute isotropic ionic phase. We use a strong segregation approach for the periodic phase and determine the one-loop free energy for the dilute phase. Lamellar and ...
متن کاملDensity of the Periodic Points in the Interval Set
The dynamical system (f,R) is introduced and some of its properties are investigated. It is proven that there is an invariant set Λ on which the periodic points of f are dense.
